Studio Museum in Harlem, newly reopened and ready to redefine what a museum can be.

Founded in 1968, the Studio Museum in Harlem emerged as a groundbreaking institution dedicated to artists of African descent, both in the U.S. and across the African diaspora. For decades, it has served as a home for experimentation, artistic development, and cultural dialogue, becoming a cornerstone of Black creativity in New York.

After years of anticipation, the Museum opens the doors to its new purpose built home on 125th Street, designed to expand exhibition space, support cutting edge programming, and deepen its connection to the Harlem community. The reopening marks a new chapter: more visibility for emerging artists, more opportunities for young creatives, and a bold architectural presence confirming Harlem’s role as a global center of culture.
