Sorry 4 What x Tory Lanez : Mave's Take

The controversial Tory Lanez released his newest album Sorry 4 What Sep 30, 2022. I really didn’t know what to expect however one thing about Tory is that when it’s time to present his sound he does not hold back. Already debuting at  No. 1 on Apples Musics Top played Albums and it’s only been a day.

Now before ya come at my neck for listening to his music, after the interview he had with Power 105 Breakfast club I had to check it out. It was clear that during his interview that he didn’t want to touch the topic on his current running case with Megan The Stallion or his scuffle with August Alsina.

The Outspoken Toronto  artist however expressed how a negative narrative was being displayed of him as he “can’t  really speak on certain things”

What also intrigued to listen to the album is Tory praising Fellow natives Drake and The Weeknd

“Thank y’all for always staying on top of your game, reminding me to stay on top of mine,” wrote Tory Lanez. “4ever ready to play this sport with y’all.”  Which came as a surprise since I thought they had their own issues. The album really does highlights that.

“No More Parties in LA” influenced by “Superman” which Drake also utilized on his “Chicago” freestyle featuring Giveon in 2020.

This also has been a controversial track throughout social media in the last 24 hours.

“Ex-Factor“ by Lauryn Hill (1998) was sampled in  on “This ain’t Working” on this album, which was also sampled on “Nice for What” by Drake in 2018.

I was surprised that he released an album that included 20 tracks, but as per Tory he wanted his fans to feel “satisfied. ”

His delivery does coincide with his sounds on Fargo Friday Drops  and 80s inspired album, Alone at Prom.

Seems like he’s running with the blueprint that has worked for his colleagues. The real question is did this album really satisfy?
