Aretha had been the only person who won this award 7 times from 1968-1975 It was awarded to Aretha Franklin for "Respect."On January 3, 1987 Aretha Franklin became the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She was awarded a Grammy Legend Award in 1991 and later awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1994.
